Apply to Join D3 Lab

Thanks for your interest in joining the Data-Driven Diversity (d3) Lab!

We ask that all Carnegie Mellon University undergraduate students who want to join D3 to complete the form below. Typically, each Fall semester, we accept up to 4 students as for-credit research assistants (RAs) depending on the number of RAs currently enrolled at that time.

At this time, we can only accept CMU undergrads in volunteer positions within the lab. Volunteers are welcome to join lab meetings to learn about our ongoing research and to directly contact project leads about potential opportunities to join a research project.

We are currently reviewing applications and accepting new CMU undergraduate for-credit RAs for the Spring 2026 semester. The credit add deadline is Monday, January 26, 2026.

If you are not a CMU undergrad, haven’t completed prerequisite coursework, or would like to join lab as a volunteer, you are welcome to join our weekly general lab meetings. To stay up to date on when and where these meetings are happening, please subscribe to the lab’s email d-list here.

Please complete the form below to submit an application to let us know about your interest in joining D3 Lab as a for-credit RA. Until then, you are welcome to attend our weekly lab meetings.

In addition to completing the form, please email Dr. Kevin Jarbo (kjarbo@cmu.edu):

1) a copy of your current résumé with your major(s), minor(s), year in college, and GPA, and

2) your confirmed or anticipated course schedule for the upcoming Fall semester.
